OpenAire has designed, manufactured and installed a bi-parting skylight for the rooftop at Refinery Hotel in Manhattan, New York, USA.
The retractable glass roof is designed to enhance the view of New York’s city sunsets, giving guests a view of the skyline of Manhattan and the Empire State Building.
Located in Manhattan’s Fashion District, guests to the Refinery Hotel can enjoy a cocktail in the lounges of the hotel: indoor, outdoor and a space ‘in-between’ with an integrated bi-parting skylight.
Christina Zimmer, principal at Stonehill & Taylor Architects and Planners, which designed the hotel, said: “The Rooftop has a warm industrial aesthetic for which the OpenAire skylight was a perfect complement. Even with the enclosure closed, its transparency transmits a wonderful light. The massive skylight brings the outside in and vice versa, while sheltering guests from the elements.”
