The Great Lego Race is the first attraction of its kind to open in the UK
The Great Lego Race, Lego's first VR experience, is set to make its UK debut at the Legoland Discovery Centre in Manchester.

Expected to open on 1 August The Great Lego Race is the second attraction of its kind in the world, and the first to launch in the UK.

A 360-degree immersive experience the ride takes guests on a magical journey through a brick-built Lego world, where they take part in a thrilling race across rocky mountains, rolling rivers and hot lava.

Lasting approximately two and a half minutes, the ride is designed for guests aged six and up and features innovative multi-sensory VR pods developed by UK-based VR firm Immotion. The VR pods can seat up to four people, and combines sight, sound and motion to create a completely immersive, sensory experience.

"We are excited about delivering this specially created VR experience in the UK." said Immotion's executive chairman Martin Higginson,"it demonstrates the kind of VR experiences we can develop on behalf of our partners"

"It demonstrates the kind of high-quality bespoke VR experiences we can develop on behalf of our partners. This is one of Immotion's highest-profile VR experiences so far and shows that out-of-home VR is increasingly becoming a major part of the worldwide attractions and experiences industry." Higginson concluded.

Jenn McDonough, general manager Manchester Cluster, Merlin Entertainments, said: "We're thrilled to be the first location in the UK to offer this amazing experience."

"We were the first Legoland Discovery Centre in the UK, and remain the largest, so it is fitting that we are spearheading this entirely new concept. It's incredibly exciting to be a part of, and I'm certain Lego fans are going to love it," she added.
