The World of Beatrix Potter in Cumbria, UK has undergone a tech overhaul, carried out by AV specialist Soundsmith, that has seen the addition of new projection displays powered by Optoma projectors.
Developed by the attraction's creative team, the displays were designed to 'reinvigorate' the attraction and serve the dual purpose of showcasing Beatrix Potter's iconic artwork as well as guiding visitors around the space.
The display features an epic collage, made up of thousands of artificial maple leaves, that floats above the main display and provides a 3D surface for moving content to be projected on to, while large leaf shaped displays hang from the ceiling and show illustrations and text from Potter's beloved children's books to tie in with each zone in the attraction.
To create the 3D maple leaves Soundsmith opted for six Optoma ZU660 projectors with ultra short throw lenses, while the single leaf displays are each powered by six ZU500T projectors. A further two ZU650 projections were installed in the foyer to create an improved visitor welcome experience, while a ZU150 projector was installed in The Old Laundry Theatre to be used during the Where is Peter Rabbit? show.
Tom Elleray, managing director of Soundsmiths, said: "The vibrancy of the images and video is just stunning. It is especially impressive when you consider the environment in which the projection is taking place."
"The new displays really 'lift' the experience to another dimension and reinvigorate what was already a brilliant attraction. We are thrilled with the final results. It worked perfectly right from the opening and the effect from these projections is simply stunning," Elleray added.
Sarah Melhuish, marketing manager at The World of Beatrix Potter, said: "We are delighted with the new installations at the attraction which have significantly enhanced the exhibition and created an even more immersive experience for our visitors. The projections are enriched by innovative new lighting and a dramatic new soundtrack, which guide visitors through the different scenes."
