Dormy House enhances premium facilities with fully connected fitness suite
12 Aug 2020 . BY Journalist
We wanted to fully embrace technology so our fitness suite matched the premium offering our hotel and spa already provided
– Stephen Browning, General Manager
Dormy House, a luxurious boutique hotel and spa in the heart of the Cotswolds, has expanded its premium offer with the refurbishment of its two fitness suites, incorporating the latest, fully connected gym equipment from Matrix Fitness.

The much-loved country-house hotel is a converted 17th century farmhouse, steeped in tradition so it was vital that the new installation was in-keeping with the aesthetic and atmosphere of the house.

General Manager, Stephen Browning explains; “We knew it was time to upgrade our fitness facilities, and wanted to fully embrace technology so that our fitness suite matched the premium offering that both our hotel and spa already provided.”

Dormy House had two fitness suites to upgrade; one larger area on the ground floor accessible to all visitors and members, and one more boutique space upstairs which operates as a 24/7 training area for residents to the hotel.

Stephen continues. “At first, due to our more mature demographic, we were wary that introducing a higher level of technology in our gyms may seem like a big change but the feedback has been fantastic.

The new Matrix Fitness equipment has given our fitness suites a whole new level of connectivity, which provides our visitors and members with a much more interactive, engaging and motivating way of working out.”

The refurbishment of the fitness suites incorporated the Matrix Fitness 7xi Cardio range to link users to entertainment, effective fitness tracking and brand-building communication whilst the Ultra Series strength equipment with Intelligent Training Consoles gives users a digitally connected, guided experience. The CXP indoor bike includes a target training LED colour wrap to monitor effort and the Connexus Column maximises space for functional training solutions.

Welcoming a more advanced level of technology, Dormy House also integrated the Matrix Fitness Connected Solutions which brings all members fitness data together with a single customisable interface which extends your brand and puts your facility at the centre of your members fitness journey.

Stephen adds: “Nigel Tapping, our contact at Matrix Fitness, was really supportive throughout the entire project and went above and beyond to advise us not only on equipment, but on layout, design and how to maximise our floor space. He managed to complete the refurbishment within a couple of days despite us having to keep the hotel and spa open throughout the install.”

Nigel Tapping, Head of Sales – Spa and Hospitality at Matrix Fitness UK adds: “Dormy House is a prestigious hotel and spa, so it was vital to create a fitness suite that introduced the highest level of connectivity and equipment to complement their other award-winning facilities. Space was crucial so we meticulously planned the layout, design and equipment choice so that each item really had a place in the room.

Premium fitness suites and versatile gym designs are playing an increasingly vital role in the spa and hospitality sector and it has been fantastic to provide Dormy House with a cutting-edge fitness experience to its visitors and members.”
