Voya creates exclusive seaweed spa rituals for Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas
21 Jan 2022 . BY Megan Whitby
Voya is an Irish an Irish thalassotherapy spa and skincare brand with a strong commitment to sustainability
Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas has introduced new organic spa treatments that harness the restorative powers of seaweed.

Developed in association with Irish skincare brand Voya, the new treatments are designed to be kind to the environment while helping to protect and revitalise the skin.

Voya combines pure ingredients with a sustainable harvesting process, where seaweed is selected by eye and harvested by hand to ensure quality and avoid harming the sea bed or marine life.

In addition, only a small portion of the seaweed is cut at a time to ensure it grows back within 8 - 12 months and harvesters move on to different parts of the reef to allow it to replenish, thus creating sustainable harvesting.

Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas is the first resort in Africa to use Voya products and two of the treatments, the Voya Signature Vegan Facial and the Maia Vichy Ritual, have been created exclusively for the resort.

Located on Mahé, the property features 30 secluded private villas set in 30 acres of forest garden by Anse Louis Beach.

Designers Bill Bensley and Lek Bunnag, made the spa a focal point for the resort. Tucked into the jungle, the Anantara Spa features three open-air treatment rooms with massage tables framed by a wall of greenery.

New spa rituals include:

Ultimate Reviver
60 mins // 3,200 SCR (£159, US$216, €190) or 90 mins // 4,300 SCR (£220, US$298, €263)
An all-over body scrub and wrap that uses real organic seaweed leaves. The treatment begins with a Bladder Wrack Body Buff – a body scrub using a type of seaweed that is high in minerals known to improve skin condition, reduce high blood pressure and ease arthritis and rheumatic pains.

The whole body is then wrapped in Laminaria Seaweed leaves which are claimed to contain an abundance of minerals with anti-inflammatory properties that protect the skin and reduce the signs of ageing.

Voya Signature Vegan Facial
60 mins // 4,210 SCR (£210, US$284, €251) or 90 mins // 5,220 SCR (£260, US$353, 311)
This vegan treatment starts with a back massage to induce relaxation and soothe muscular pain. This is followed by a dual-action facial utilising Laminaria seaweed leaves and the remineralising Mermaid’s Purse Face Mask made from hand-harvested and dried Fucus Vesiculosus seaweed to provide hydration, increase circulation and detoxify.

This facial is designed to leave the skin rejuvenated and deeply hydrated, softening the appearance of fine lines and leaving the skin supple and plumped.

Maia Vichy Ritual
60 mins // 3,850 SCR (£192, US$260, €229) or 90 mins 4,970 SCR (£248, US$336, €296)
This hydrotherapy shower treatment has been conceived to improve blood circulation, hydrate the skin and bring the body back into balance.

The journey begins with Voya’s Luscious Salt Scrub which is infused with sea salts and organic seaweed oil to stimulate blood and lymph flow while firming and toning the skin.

This is followed by an Angelicus Serratus Body Oil Massage to loosen tension and areas of stress. The massage oil contains Fucus Serratus seaweed found in the North Atlantic Ocean and is said to be infused with antioxidant compounds that have pronounced anti-ageing, skin conditioning, repairing and hydrating effects.
